Business Chicks: Make This Your Year

a quote about rocking the boat and business chicks
pinned up in the toilet stall no less...

I recently became a member of Business Chicks, with a bit of apprehension that it's a girl club I just won't be cheerleader-y enough to get into. Although, I did read Emma Isaacs book Winging It, it was such an easy read while being relevant and motivating that I felt compelled to give a BC event a go.

But 2019; man oh man am I making this my year anyway (2018 was a shocker) so the name of this event grabbed me and I took a leap of faith to go. Naturally, I'd choose my first BC event to be a 6:45am morning event, yikes! I have to say, they fed me, they had coffee, and the speakers were inspiring; it was worth it! And I left smiling and feeling energised for the year ahead.

Here are my notes:

Finding your purpose and tribe, by @mikaelajadeindigital, as yourself these questions:

What are you most proud of?

What are you most afraid of?

What’s your most pressing need?

What can you do to help? What is the gift that you bring to this challenge or problem?

business checks presentation of speaker and book author
Canna Campbell of $1000 Project; motivating!

Financial wellness, with @cannasass, founder of the $1000 Project movement:

"Financial pressure and stress are detrimental to your overall health. Passive income is key."

$1000 Project; scrape together $1k at a time through ancillary means (as in, not your salary, but pocketing the savings of taking lunch to work, eating in, steaming vs dry cleaning.)

Each $1k saved, put it straight into investment, such as blue chip funds (I'm sure here book gives waaay more detail than that, I'll note more once I read it.) @sugarmammatv

Investing in this way will generate passive income (your money earning money without your touch) and everyone needs that!

“I’m constantly looking to breathe in inspiration in every aspect of my life.”

- Canna Campbell

psychologist presentation about brain waves
if the first thing you do is check your phone and see breaking news of detrimental events, your brain will be in fight/flight mode all day... fascinating, and scary.

Mental wellness, with @eqminds, Chelsea, a psychologist with humour and relatability:

Practice gratitude.

Swim in your own lane, avoid comparing to others or social mediums.

Write down 3 things you are grateful for:

I’m truly grateful to be here.

I’m grateful that I think I am worthy to be in this BC circle and spend on myself.

So very grateful for my husband.

Charity work is so uplifting and rewarding. Time you’re gifting to somebody else.

Vision Board Program 2019 @ www.eqminds.com

Visualise those who you are grateful for, and say to them in your mind:

“May you be healthy.

May you be happy.

May you be at peace.

May you feel at ease.”

90 seconds of mindful breathing will change your feelings.

Just 30 seconds of gratitude each morning will have such positive benefits.

Where can you fit 30 seconds of gratitude into your day.

Teach your children to be grateful for life's simple pleasures and beauty.

Don’t check your phone in that first 8 minutes of waking up. Own those minutes take full accountability of those minutes. Proactive gratitude for 30 seconds.

Deep breathing for 90 seconds to move through anxiety.

"Set boundaries. Nutrition. Meditation. Sleep hygiene. Exercise."

- Chelsea Pottenger

Amen. I'll be going to the '9 to Thrive' with bells on (and hella high anticipation, I can't wait!)
